Luraph v14 has arrived! (for real this time!)

3 years ago today, we unveiled the release of Luraph v13, which masively reshaped the obfuscator that many utilize to ensure security of their hard work and efforts. It's been a great adventure during this major version of Luraph (and for the 7 years since Luraph's initial release!), and our team has been working hard to create the new underlying goals and techniques that will solidify Luraph into this new era.

Major accomplishments of v13

  • Released our website and API, instead of performing obfuscations via Discord
  • Created our custom in-house Lua compiler to allow extended syntax and intensive code optimization
  • Added official support for many distributions of Lua, including Lua 5.2, Lua 5.3, Lua 5.4, LuaJIT, and Luau.
  • Introduced our test suite to catch Luraph bugs after any change to the obfuscator code.
  • Focused on massive improvements on performance to ensure performance critical scripts can still benefit from Luraph's security.
  • and more!

What's new in v14

You can view our full changelog on our Updates page.

LPH_ENCFUNC

LPH_ENCFUNC allows you to encrypt a function and its descendants with a 256-bit cryptographically secure encryption algorithm, which can be combined with your serverside authentication checks to enhance script security. With this new feature, it is impossible for an attacker to deobfuscate your scripts without first obtaining the keys.

Information on how to use LPH_ENCFUNC can be found on our Macros documentation.

VM Compression

VM Compression has returned in Luraph v14! This iteration, we've finally ensured that it will be able to achieve compression levels of up to 50%! This setting is premium only, so you'll have to be on a plan supporting premium features.

Optimizations

Alongside various optimizations we've done to overall increase the performance of scripts obfuscated with Luraph, we're also offering 4 new settings which can increase the performance of your scripts: Optimization Level, Enable FFI Library, Hardcode Globals, and Static Environment. Each of these features are recommended to be enabled where appropriate for your script, as it allows Luraph to do much further optimization than the default settings allow.

Other things

Luraph Enterprise

We've recently unveiled Luraph Enterprise for our customers requiring closer collaboration with the Luraph team, higher uptime guarantees, custom features, and more!

Please note that reselling Luraph is explicitly prohibited without a Luraph Enterprise subscription. If you are providing a value-added service including Luraph, please contact us to purchase an Enterprise subscription.

Additionally, if you have interest in anything unavailable within the current public offering of Luraph, please contact us to determine whether Enterprise may be a good fit for you.

API Updates

Within the first few months of 2024, we have deployed many new updates to our API tools:

  • Massively improved our API documentation wording & added documentation for our SDKs.
  • Released our .NET SDK.
  • Released our Visual Studio Code extension.
  • Added warnings to the API to warn developers of possible integration issues.
  • Added enforceSettings to POST /obfuscate/new to allow looser settings enforcement.
  • Allowed multipart/form-data payloads to be sent to POST /obfuscate/new.
  • Added nodes[node].version, nodes[node].options[opt].required, and nodes[node].options[opt].dependencies to GET /obfuscation/nodes.

You can see more information at our API Documentation.

Obfuscation Speed

We're committed to ensuring the stability of our obfuscation services, and continuously monitor various performance metrics of Luraph. During 2024, we have maintained an average P50 of 297ms and an average P95 of 2.49s for generation of obfuscated scripts. Our team is hard at work to continue improving the speed of obfuscation to ensure that even maliciously crafted scripts meant to cause long compilation times will obfuscate without issue on Luraph.

Additionally, we are consistently deploying upgraded infrastructure to handle the increased load of scripts being sent to our obfuscation nodes.

We're hiring!

We're currently hiring website developers and customer support. If you're interested, please send your resume/portfolio to mem@mem.rip with the subject Luraph - Career Interest.

  • Customer support applicants must know Lua.
  • Frontend developers must be familiar with Vue/Vite/TypeScript.

We're also open to considering other roles, so feel free to send an email even if you may not be the best fit for the positions above.
